If we wouldn’t want it for our family, we wouldn’t ask you to use it near yours. We don’t put these ingredients in our products:
An air freshening spray for instant fragrance in the home. Available for a limited time.
Blending agents that ensures even distribution of the ingredients.
Hydrogenated Castor Oil is an emulsifier that helps bind ingredients together and keep a formula from separating. Over time, it is possible for formulas in a product to separate. Adding emulsifiers helps ensure that our products provide the same performance use after use. As a note, “hydrogenated” means formulated to include water. So Hydrogenated Caster Oil is a mixture of caster oil and water.
Secondary Alcohol Ethoxylate is a detergent that can also be found in cleaners and detergents. It's also used in fermentation processes for brewing, paints and coatings, and paper and textile manufacturing. It’s often used, in very small quantities, as an emulsifier. This ingredient is widely used because it biodegrades relatively rapidly. As an emulsifier, it helps bind ingredients together and keep a formula from separating. Over time, it is possible for formulas in a product to separate. Adding emulsifiers helps ensure that our products provide the same performance use after use.
This product was no longer manufactured on or before January 1, 2012. Some discontinued products may contain fragrance ingredients outside those listed in SC Johnson's fragrance palette.
Helps ensure even distribution of ingredients.
Propylene Glycol is a solubilizer that can also be found in cosmetics, toothpaste, food and beer. It helps ensure even distribution of the ingredients throughout a product, to help it work better. It also can be used as an odour eliminator, as a cleaning agent that removes dirt, or as a carrier that enables delivery of the product to the surface. Propylene Glycol is sometimes confused with Ethylene Glycol, the sweet-tasting ingredient that can be used in air conditioning systems and antifreeze products, but it is a different ingredient and is not identified by any government regulatory agencies as a concern.
Helps create the spray of a product.
Nitrogen is a propellant used to dispense a product from a container. Nitrogen is a non-flammable, non-VOC compressed gas, used to replace hydrocarbons or chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in aerosol products. Nitrogen makes up more than 75% of the air we breathe.
Help keep contents fresh by inhibiting corrosion of the can or dispenser.
Diopotassium Phosphate is a corrosion inhibitor that, along with being used in consumer products, is also an additive to various food products such as non-dairy creamers, where it helps balance the acidity of the coffee. Dipotassium Phosphate helps keep contents fresh and prevent the erosion or rusting of a can or dispenser. We know there are concerns about phosphates and their impact on waterways and surface water. However, Dipotassium Phosphate is used in low concentrations to limit the concentrations of total phosphate being used in SC Johnson products and potentially released to surface waters.
Potassium Phosphate is a corrosion inhibitor that can also be found in facial cleansers and moisturizers. It helps keep contents fresh and prevent the erosion or rusting of a can or dispenser. We know there are concerns about phosphates and their impact on waterways and surface water. However, Potassium Phosphate is used in low concentrations to limit the concentrations of total phosphate being used in SC Johnson products and potentially released to surface waters.
Protects a product against microbial growth, to maintain performance.
Methylisothiazolinone is a preservative that can also be found in shampoos, skin care products and makeup. It helps maintain product quality and performance over time. Some people raise concerns about preservatives, because a small number of individuals have allergies to them just as some people have allergies to nuts or bees. But preservatives play a very important role in food, cosmetics and household products. Without preservatives, many products would not last more than a week or two before being contaminated by bacteria, mold or yeast. So, we feel the best choice is to add preservatives in the smallest effective quantity to protect our products, but to list these preservatives in our formulas so that those with allergies in the family can make informed choices.
