Definition

1. WHAT IS IT FOR? You need to cut through grease and the dirt it leaves behind – quickly and without excessive scrubbing. Sodium Hydroxide is a highly effective way to do that. 

2. HOW DOES IT WORK? Sodium Hydroxide acts to adjust the pH balance of all the elements in Windex Multi-Surface, so they work more efficiently on tough greasy stains.

3. WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL CONCERNS? A third-party review of scientific studies indicates this ingredient has the potential to be harmful if ingested or left on skin (add link).  It also may have the potential to cause an allergic reaction on the skin (add link). 

4. HOW DO WE MAKE SURE IT’S SAFE FOR YOU TO USE?  We evaluate the use of Sodium Hydroxide assuming a heavy use scenario, and employ a margin of safety significantly below (100x lower) the level that has the potential to cause any concern.
