If we wouldn’t want it for our family, we wouldn’t ask you to use it near yours. We don’t formulate our products with these ingredients:
An all-purpose cream cleanser for cleaning throughout the house. It cleans rust, cuts through tough soap scum and stains, and tackles greasy soils and stains.
Break down dirt and deposits.
Alkylarylsulfonated Salt is a cleaning agent that can also be found in detergents, all-purpose cleaners, and face and hand soaps. It's particularly good at removing soap scum and mold & mildew stains. It works by loosening the scum or stain from a surface.
Dipropylene Glycol Propyl Ether is a cleaning agent that can also be found in cosmetics such as facial soaps because of its ability to dissolve dirt and other substances and to retain moisture. It’s particularly good at removing soap scum, mold and mildew stains. Like its sister ingredient Dipropylene Glycol Butyl Ether, it works by loosening the scum or stain from a surface. It is readily biodegradable, and is unlikely to bioaccumulate in the environmental food chains. Additionally, Dipropylene Glycol Propyl Ether is less toxic to aquatic organisms than many alternatives.
Ethoxylated Alcohol is a cleaning agent that can also be found in a variety of products including toothpaste and shampoos. It removes dirt and deposits by surrounding dirt particles to loosen them from the surface they're attached to, so they can be rinsed away. Ethoxylation is the process of treating a fatty acid alcohol to give it detergent properties.
Makes a product slightly gritty to enhance cleaning and polishing
Calcium Carbonate is an abrasive that can also be found in antacids and toothpaste. It makes a formula slighly gritty to help remove tough stains from surfaces. It will not harm most surfaces, but before using any abrasive product on softer surfaces, you should test it on an inconspicuous place.
Adjusts the pH of a product to improve stability.
Sodium Carbonate is a pH adjuster that can also be found in bath, skin and hair products. It alters the pH of a product to improve stability over time. Every formula has an optimum pH to make it work best. For example, a formula that’s more acidic works better for soap scum removal. Its opposite, a formula that’s more alkaline, might be more effective as a carpet cleaner. We use pH adjusters to make sure we achieve the best pH for a particular job. Also, the pH of a formula can affect how long it lasts within a container – for example limiting its tendency to rust in a can. Sodium Carbonate can also be used as a builder that makes a product formula clean better by affecting the molecules in the formula so they work together better.
Improves the texture of the product.
Acrylic Copolymer is a thickener that can also be found in personal care products such as lotions and hair styling gel. It improves the texture of a product and helps it maintain a gel-like texture.
Creates a protective coating or shine on a surface.
Polyacrylate Polymer is a film former that works in combination with rinsing water to keep surfaces cleaner longer. It is especially good at helping prevent soap scum from adhering to shower and sink surfaces. It works by first attaching to the surface, and then helping to prevent soils from attaching so that they can be washed away by water. It can also be used as a cleaning agent for soft surfaces, such as clothes, where it works by attaching to soils so they can be more easily washed away.
Protects a product against microbial growth to maintain performance.
Benzoisothiazolinone is a preservative. It helps maintain product quality and performance over time. Some people raise concerns about preservatives, because a small number of individuals have allergies to them just as some people have allergies to nuts or bees. But preservatives play a very important role in food, cosmetics and household products. Without preservatives, many products would not last more than a week or two before being contaminated by bacteria, mold or yeast. So, we feel the best choice is to add preservatives in the smallest effective quantity to protect our products, but to list these preservatives in our formulas so that those with allergies in the family can make informed choices.
