Butane is a propellant used to dispense a product from a container. It is often used in concert with other propellants such as isobutane and propane. While butane is commonly known for its use in heaters and lighters, as a propellant its energy comes from being compressed in a can rather than from being lit or heated.

Naphtha (petroleum), Hydrotreated Light is a cleaning agent that can also be found in paints and varnishes. We use it in our products to remove dirt and deposits by surrounding dirt particles to loosen them from the surface they're attached to, so they can be rinsed away. Naphtha (petroleum), Hydrotreated Light can also be used as a carrier within our products. It helps carry a product to a surface by thinning or thickening the formula, or simply ensuring even distribution of the other ingredients in the formula. Without a carrier, the formula would not work with the same consistency across a surface.

Propylene glycol is a solubiliser that can also be found in cosmetics, toothpaste, food and beer. It is sometimes confused with ethylene glycol, the sweet-tasting ingredient that can be used in air conditioning systems and antifreeze products, but it is a different ingredient. Propylene glycol is used in our products to help ensure even distribution of the ingredients throughout a product, to help it work better. We also use it as an odour eliminator, as a cleaning agent, or "surfactant", that removes dirt, as a wetting agent, or as a carrier that enables delivery of the product to the surface. In certain products, Propylene glycol works as a moisturiser helping to prevent a product or surface, like leather, from drying out by retaining moisture making the material softer and more pliable.

C.I. Solvent Black 27 is a colourant or dye. We add dyes to products for a variety of reasons including helping you see where you applied the product, when a product is used up, or for aesthetic reasons. In Shoe Care products, dyes or pigments also help to restore colour or scuff cover. The colourant is available from multiple suppliers, which are responsible for its contents.

Isopropyl alcohol is a cleaning agent that can also be found in cosmetics and personal care products including eye makeup, lotions, soaps and hair care products. It is also the main ingredient in common household rubbing alcohol. We use it in our products to remove dirt and deposits by surrounding dirt particles to loosen them from the surface they are attached to, so they can be rinsed away. Then, it evaporates quickly.

Dimethicone is a silicone film former that can also be found in skin lotions, bath soaps and shampoos. Sometimes referred to as “silicone oil”, dimethicone is the most widely used silicone polymer and is particularly known for its ability to smoothly coat a surface and leave it protected, without being sticky. In products that are applied to the skin, dimethicone can also be used as an emollient that helps soften and smooth the skin. In household products, it creates a protective coating or shine on a surface. In our products to protect leather, it helps increase the gloss. Dimethicone also can be a moisturiser. As a moisturiser, it helps prevent a product or surface, like leather, from drying out by helping it retain moisture. This makes it softer and more pliable.
